If you want to become a developer, you first have to decide what kind of development you are interested in and then learn the languages required. For example, if you are into web development, it is necessary to have a good knowledge of HTML and CSS, as they are the building blocks of most websites. You should also know how to create responsive websites. You can choose to learn additional skills, such as bootstrap and jQuery. These are the basics for front-end development. If you decide to be a backend developer or a full stack developer, then you would also have to learn languages like PHP, Python, JavaScript, Django, and MySQL and so on. These languages add functionality to your websites.
The same applies to other types of development. For example, a game developer would have to learn languages like C, C++, and Java and may even need to utilize frameworks and a software developer would have to know languages like Ruby and C#. To do this, you would need to attend boot camps and training. It is also helpful to have a mentor to guide you through the stages and processes. You should also work on personal projects so that you learn how to put your knowledge to use.
After all this, you should then make for CV/Resume that highlights your strengths and skills. You should also have a portfolio that you can show potential employers. You can also take on projects as a freelancer as it will allow you to gain experience for development jobs while being paid. The projects do not have to be huge ones and they can be great additions to your portfolio.
Finally, have a helpful network of people. This means that you should interact with people that are willing to introduce you to jobs as a developer and/or will contribute to helping you build up your knowledge. These people include other web developers and even family and friends. This would be very helpful in knowing about available jobs that you can do. You can find these people in places like churches, schools, or even online. You will be expanding your borders and getting to know people who can change your future for the better.
